Militarization and the Climate Crisis

This seminar will focus on the role of militarism and rearmament in the threatening climate collapse. Everybody – politicians, the media, and the public – are aware of the dire and deteriorating climate and environmental situation. But they are practically blind to the clash taking place by upgrading rearmament with the effort to reduce CO2 emissions and boost green transformation. The problem is not only that the huge increase in military spending undermines the spending on climate, the environment, welfare and housing. Rearmament and militarization as such, the destructions of war and the rebuilding after destructions are some of the worst factors increasing CO2 emissions and climate change.
